NB-PT Casino Notes
When We Get a Fact Wrong
A notebook is only useful if its notes are right. We check every entry before it goes up, but rules change, products are redesigned and people make mistakes. When one of ours is found, we would rather fix it openly than quietly. This page explains how.
How to report an error
Write to inbox@netbsd-pt.org or use the form on Drop Us a Line. A useful report includes:
- the title or address of the entry;
- the exact sentence, number or table cell that looks wrong to you;
- what you believe is correct, and where you saw it, such as a game's help screen or a sportsbook's published rules.
Certainty is not required. A note that says "this does not match what I see" is enough for us to look again.
What happens next
Corrections take priority over new entries. The writer who covers that subject checks the report against the original source, and the editor recalculates any figures involved. If the report is right, the entry is changed. If we disagree, we reply to explain why, and we often clarify the wording anyway, because a sentence that confused one reader may well confuse others.
What counts as a correction
| Type of change | Example | How it is shown |
|---|---|---|
| Factual error | A rule described the wrong way round | Entry corrected and revision date updated |
| Calculation error | An implied probability added up incorrectly | Figure corrected and revision date updated |
| Outdated information | A feature that is no longer offered in some markets | Text revised and revision date updated |
| Clarity | A sentence that could be misread | Wording improved; minor changes may keep the date |
| Typing slip | A spelling or punctuation mistake | Fixed without changing the date |
Things we will always change
Some problems are fixed immediately, without waiting for a full review: any sentence that could be read as a promise of winning, a missing reminder about age or local rules, and any wording that makes a feature or bet sound cheaper than it is. These go against the principles described in Our Review Process, so they do not need debate.
What we cannot correct
We can only correct our own entries. We cannot change the content of other websites, settle disagreements with an operator or alter the result of a bet. If a casino or bookmaker has treated you unfairly, raise it with the operator first and then with the authority that licenses it.
Thank you
Every report makes the notebook a little more reliable for the next reader. We are grateful for each one, including the ones that turn out to be about a comma.
Tell us what you think.
A short note is enough.
Behind each entry
Five stages between a draft and the page
The same sequence applies whether the entry is about a betting slip or a bonus round.
Read the source
Paytables, help screens and published market rules are read in full before a single line is drafted.
Draft one subject
Each entry sticks to a single term or feature so readers find it whole in one place.
Redo every sum
A second writer recalculates implied probabilities, multiplications and totals from scratch.
Tone it down
The editor rewrites anything that hints at easy money and adds the reminder about local law.
Revisit later
Entries are reopened when products change or a reader reports a problem.
